Rent due in 3 days, 6 hours, 27 minutes

Current volunteer hour credits:  7

Top of page normally displays the countdown to rent and the current balance. Balance flashes if it is under 5. This is the same display that the tenant gets when they tap their card to enter their unit.

  • If the tenant has been recently (last 72 hours) locked out for nonpayment of rent, display reads:"Locked out due to nonpayment of rent. Please pay your rent or confirm your safety with an Advocate. Unit will be entered for a welfare check in (countdown)."

  • If tenant is missing, display reads: "A missing persons case has been filed. Please contact an Advocate to confirm you are alive."

  • If there is not a currently active rental, this section just says "no active rental" and current EvergreenHours balance. This would apply equally for folks who are waiting for a suitable unit and folks who have been evicted.

Move out of current unit

This allows the tenant to move out of their current unit online, much like checking out of a hotel. A tenant may choose a countdown of up to 72 hours for a pending move-out, or move out immediately. Once move-out is triggered, the electronic key is be removed from the card and an alert is sent to maintenance to clean and prepare the unit for a new tenant. At check-out, the tenant would be prompted to leave a review of the location. Completing this would be optional, but encouraged in the spirit of mutual support. Subsequent tenants would benefit from the information.

Normally, a tenant would not be permitted to rent more than one unit at a time. However, if a tenant has a pending move-out they would be permitted to rent an additional unit. Pending move-outs can be cancelled with no penalties, if the attempt to rent another unit didn't work out. (Since CityDorms have no wait lists, people will have to move quickly to rent the more popular locations!) Pending move-outs also give a tenant time to move their belongings.

Just like any other member, a current CityDorm tenant may apply for a new unit to be installed in a new location. Once that unit was installed, the original requester has up to 7 days to place a pending move-out countdown on their existing unit and claim the new unit. If they failed to do so within 7 days, that would trigger investigation from a Level 2 Advocate. Depending on the details of the situation, the applicant might get extra time, the newly installed unit might be released to the general housing stock, or the newly installed unit might be removed.
